Hello there! So if you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering Which LinkedIn plan should i use. LinkedIn has several plans, and it can be tough to choose which one is convenient for you. So let’s review this and jump into it!

Table of content

What are the available plans?

On LinkedIn, there are several plans available

Linkedin Basic

It’s the free account, that you’re provided with when you register on Linkedin. With this, you can :

  • Find and reconnect with colleagues and classmates

  • Request and provide recommendations

  • Search for and view profiles of other LinkedIn members

  • Receive unlimited InMail Messages

  • Save up to three searches and get weekly alerts on those searches

When it comes to commercial prospection, this plan isn’t indicated because of several factors. You can export just only 1000 leads at once and the provided filter isn’t enough if you do a good segmentation (Read our guide about How to Generate +30% Reply Rate Sequences with Careful Segmentation & Copywriting?), you’ll be quickly limited and the risk of contacting the wrong person will be higher.

But if you can not afford to buy a Sales Navigator for now, you can check our guide about Segmenting Leads for Your First Campaign on La Growth Machine which will help you to use the filters of Linkedin’s Basic. With this guide, you’ll become a master at using filters!

LinkedIn Recruiter

This plan is ideal for recruiters and hiring managers who need to find top talent. With LinkedIn Recruiter, you can:

  • You have special filters such as spoken languages, years in the current company, and 20 more!

  • You get 30 inMail credits each month, as well as templates to save time.

  • LinkedIn can automatically suggest you the right candidate with a feature called “Smart Suggestion”

  • You’re the first one to know when a candidate is available for a new job

  • You can manage all hiring data in one place.

As this plan is suited to recruiters, it won’t answer the same need as if you were doing Sales Prospection, so the capabilities are different. But even for a recruiter, it can be interesting to take a Sales Navigator plan, because you can only export 1000 people at one time. Also, you won’t have precise filters as in Sales Navigator, which will help you find the right lead at the right moment. And finally, within La Growth Machine, we don’t handle yet the Recruiter’s URL, so if you try to import CSV files with the recruiter’s URL, it won’t work.

Moreover, if you’re using Huntool, we have a native synchronization to help you follow your candidates within your CRM!

LinkedIn Business

The LinkedIn Business plan is designed for small and medium-sized businesses that want to grow their online presence and build their brand. With this plan, you can:

  • Create a company page and showcase your products or services

  • Post updates and engage with followers

  • Use analytics to measure the success of your content

  • Advertise on LinkedIn to reach your target audience

When it comes to commercial prospection, this type of LinkedIn plan isn’t well fitted, because it won’t help you to do some research to target leads: it’s designed to help you grow the presence of your company

LinkedIn Sales Navigator

This plan is perfect for sales professionals who need to find and connect with potential customers. With LinkedIn Sales Navigator, you can:

  • Access advanced lead search and lead recommendations

  • Get real-time sales updates and insights

  • Save leads and accounts to keep track of your prospects

  • Receive custom lead recommendations based on your preferences

  • Get unlimited InMail messages to reach out to potential customers directly

LinkedIn Basic vs Sales Nav

So, let’s recap the biggest difference between the most used plans on Linkedin: Basic will help you to put a foot in the world of Sales, but you will be quickly limited by the filters.

LinkedIn Basic will propose 10 filters, while you can go up to 30 with Sales Navigators

10 search filters aren’t enough to have a precise segmentation, even if it can help you to begin. So that’s why you should use Sales Navigator

Another important difference you should know about:

Up until October 2023, there was no difference in terms of volume/limits between a free account on LinkedIn, and a paid one.

Namely, all accounts had the same quota on connection request

  • 150-250 connection requests are allowed per week.

  • If you added a note, no impact on the quota

  • The note was limited to 300 characters

Now, LinkedIn free accounts are subjected to different restrictions :

  • 150-250 connection requests / Week - WITHOUT NOTES

  • 10 Connection Request / MONTH - WITH NOTES.

Yes, you read that right, per month!

  • Connection requests with notes are limited to 200 characters. Not 300 characters anymore.

As mentioned by Linkedin in the screenshot, this is a restriction to LinkedIn free accounts
