If you ever searched in our settings, you may have found something called “outreach settings”. But what is it? What does it do? Let’s find.

This a reminder of How LGM handles duplicates

When you’re importing leads, LGM will check if the leads you’re importing are already existing or not. For that, we will use 2 keys :

  • Name + FirstName + Company name OR

  • Linkedin URL

If we ever have a match, we will simply make the fusion. But what happens if there is different data between the already existing data and the new one?

There are 2 options in that case :

Option 1 - The default one

When creating an LGM account, the first option is marked by default. This means that if we have different fields, we will only replace the empty ones. If there are no empty fields, we will not change anything.

We follow the principle of the primacy of uploaded data. This means that even if we identify a discrepancy with what is visible on LinkedIn, we never modify the data. The reason for this is simple: we have no way of notifying you of the change at the moment. In the past, we used to update the data, but this created a whole host of problems for people who modified the information by hand to better adapt it to their leads. For example:

  • Let's say you change a lead's first name from Alexandre to Alex. If we were to automatically change it back to Alexandre without warning you, that wouldn't be ideal.

  • Similarly, if you were to change your job title from Co-Founder and CTO to Founder, it wouldn't be right for us to automatically change it back to Co-Founder and CTO.

  • Likewise, if you clean up a company name that reads Spendesk SAS to Spendesk (to remove the SAS), we won't make any automatic changes.

Option 2 - Updating the existing contact

However, if you believe your data is outdated, selecting the second setting will remove the existing data during the enrichment process and replace it with the new data.

This will provide you with fresh and updated data.

Be cautious when using this option, as erased data cannot be retrieved. Use it carefully!

It’s up to you now!

So the settings that you will use are really up to you. If you want to know how enrichment works in LGM, you can read our article!
