Why does LGM use a Widget instead of an extension? That’s a good question, and we’ll see why it’s more convenient to use a widget.

Table of content

What is an extension?

An extension is a browser add-on that can usually be downloaded and installed for free. It allows you to do several things, such as correcting the text and saving links for later.

Extensions for Sales Prospecting

There are many sales prospecting services that work with a Chrome extension. It's simple and convenient to use, but there are several disadvantages:

  • You need to keep your Chrome browser open with a LinkedIn tab open.

  • LinkedIn can easily ban you: they can see the extension you have installed and determine if you are using an automation tool.

  • These extensions use an IP from a data center, making you more noticeable to LinkedIn.

As you can see, using one of these extensions makes it easier to be banned by LinkedIn.

What is a widget?

A widget is a little tool, installed locally on your computer. Instead of a Chrome extension, it has the advantage of working even if your browser is closed, and it does not simulate a different IP, because it’s using yours!

So that’s why we have chosen to use a widget instead of a Chrome extension.

With it, you can automate your prospection without being worried of a ban.

Can I use a Virtual Machine?

You have the possibility to use a Virtual Machine, but we strongly don't recommend it. The Virtual Machine will use the IP of a Data Center, making LinkedIn more suspicious of your activity. If you really want to use one, use an IPv4 proxy to make sure you won't be detected

It’s up to you now!

Now that you know why we have made this choice, you can read our guide about how to use the widget!
