How do exit settings work?

Stay in control of when your sequences stop… or keep running.

Overview

In 99% of cases, you want La Growth Machine to automatically stop a sequence as soon as a lead replies. Good news: this is the default behavior.

But sometimes, a reply shouldn’t necessarily mean the end of a sequence.
That’s where Exit settings and Custom exits come into play.

They allow you to decide exactly when and how a sequence should stop — without having to configure it every time you add a message.

Key benefits

  • Smart automatic stop when a lead replies

  • Advanced control with Custom exits

  • Powerful automations using Webhooks

  • Maximum flexibility to adapt your sales workflows

Exit settings: how they work

Exit settings define the rules that tell La Growth Machine when to stop a sequence for a lead.

Exit sequence when lead replies

This option is enabled by default on all campaigns. As soon as a lead replies (via email, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.), the sequence automatically stops for that lead.

Note: this is the recommended behavior in most cases to avoid awkward or unnecessary follow-ups

Custom exits: go beyond the standard stop

Sometimes, you want to do more than just stop the sequence when a lead replies.

Custom exits allow you to trigger specific actions instead of — or in addition to — stopping the sequence.

What can you do with a Custom exit?

For example, you can:

  • Trigger a Webhook as soon as a reply is received

  • Automatically add the lead to a new audience

  • Build advanced automations without modifying the main sequence

Simply select Custom exits in the Exit settings.

Real-life Webhook use cases

With Webhooks, the possibilities are (almost) endless 👇

You can, for example:

  • Automatically create a deal as soon as a reply is received

  • Notify your team on Slack when a new response comes in

  • Create a task for your sales team to qualify the reply in your CRM

Pro tip: Webhooks are perfect for connecting La Growth Machine to your existing stack (CRM, Slack, internal tools…).

Best practices

Important:

  • Keep the default automatic stop to avoid human errors.

  • Use Custom exits only when you have a clear use case.

  • Always test your Webhooks on a small audience before rolling them out.

FAQs

Is automatic sequence stopping mandatory?

No, but it’s enabled by default because it’s the best practice in 99% of cases.

Can I combine stopping a sequence and triggering a Webhook?

Yes. A Custom exit can include multiple actions.

Do I need technical skills to use Webhooks?

Not necessarily. Tools like Zapier or Make make setup easy.
