For certain reasons (usually related to RGPD compliance), you may want to give your prospect the option of unsubscribing from your emails.

La Growth Machine allows you to add an unsubscribe link in your emails, allowing your leads to choose to stop receiving communication from you.

Table of contents :

What is an unsubscribe link?

An unsubscribe link is a link included in an email that allows the recipient to unsubscribe or opt out of receiving future emails from the sender.

How do I add it to my emails?

Click on the "unsubscribe" icon to add it to your email:

What happens if my lead chooses to unsubscribe?

If your lead chooses to unsubscribe, they will be tagged as "unsubscribed", and the campaign will be stopped & marked as completed for him/her.

Please note that: if a lead unsubscribes, it's irreversible, you will no longer be able to contact them, even if you add them to another campaign.

What are the PROs & CONs of showing an unsubscribe link?

✚ PROs

  • GDPR compliance: It allows leads to easily opt out of receiving further messages

  • Long-Term Deliverability: It can help reduce the number of spam complaints, which can damage your domain reputation

  • Clean Lists: It can help maintain a clean contact list, which can improve deliverability rates and the effectiveness of future campaigns

➖ CONS

  • Short-Term Deliverability: Providers like Google detect unsubscribe links and can associate them with mass emailing

  • Reply Rate: The lead can easily identify that you have automated your message, thanks to the unsubscribe link

TIPS: You can also unsubscribe a lead manually from your lead portfolio.

Unlike an unsubscribe initiated by a lead from the unsubscribe link, this is a reversible action: you can decide to "resubscribe" your leads at any time.

Create a link to track

You can also choose to create a tracked link to a specific page

1. Create a dedicated landing page to inform your prospects that they have unsubscribed from your campaign.

2. In the campaign, every time you send an email, add this hyperlink at the bottom of the email and write something like, "Don't want to receive my emails anymore? Click here to unsubscribe."

3. Activate link tracking :

4. Then, the next step is to stop the campaign as soon as a prospect clicks and send them to another audience that you'll use as a black list:

You can then go to your Blacklist audience and unsubscribe in bulk from the leads there!

TIPS: You can leave out the End sequence block, but after the last Add to Audience block, the lead will be stopped in any case in this campaign because it will have no further action to take.

Warning: Remember to set up custom domain tracking to improve the deliverability of your emails and the engagement rate if you choose option 2 with the tracking of your unsubscribe link!
