Overview

A custom domain tracking (CDT) lets you track recipient interactions with your emails (opens, clicks, etc.) while improving your sender reputation.
It typically looks like this: tracking.your-domain.com.

Your leads won’t really notice this URL — they’ll be automatically redirected to the final link after clicking. The tracking domain only appears if they hover over the link in your email.

Key benefits

  • Better deliverability:
Without a CDT, you’re using La Growth Machine’s shared tracking domain — which means other users’ actions can affect your sender reputation.
By using your own tracking domain, you build your own email reputation, leading to higher deliverability rates.

  • Domain consistency:
If your tracking domain doesn’t match your email domain, mail providers may flag your emails as spam or phishing.
A consistent domain builds trust and keeps your emails out of the spam folder.

  • Higher engagement rates:
Leads are more likely to click a link that feels familiar and trustworthy.
Think about it — you wouldn’t click a “bank123-tracking.com” link from your bank, right? The same logic applies here.

How to set up your custom domain tracking

Step 1: Access your settings

  1. Go to Settings > Custom Domain Tracking.

  2. Click Add Subdomain.

Step 2: Generate your subdomain

  1. Select your domain.
All emails sent from this domain will use your custom domain tracking.

  2. Click Generate Subdomain.
You’ll then see your CNAME record and possibly one or two TXT records to add to your domain provider.

Step 3: Update your domain provider

  1. Copy the CNAME and TXT values from La Growth Machine.

  2. Log in to your domain provider and paste them into your DNS settings.

  3. Follow the specific guide for your provider:

Step 4: Verify your setup

  • Wait up to 72 hours for DNS propagation.

  • Once verified, your screen will show that the domain is active — you’re good to go!

FAQs

What if my DNS record isn’t active after 72 hours?

Double-check your CNAME and TXT entries for typos or extra spaces.
If you’re using Cloudflare, make sure the proxy is disabled.

Do I need to add a TXT record?

Not always! If no TXT record appears in your setup screen, you don’t need to add one.
