How do I connect La Growth Machine to n8n?

Install the official LGM node in n8n, create your credential, and start automating leads, audiences, campaigns and Inbox replies.

Written by Brice Maurin

Overview

The official La Growth Machine node for n8n lets you build custom automations around your outreach, without writing a line of code. It's published on npm as @lagrowthmachine/n8n-nodes-lagrowthmachine and maintained by our team.

Key benefits

  • No code: build sync, enrichment and Inbox automations in a visual workflow

  • Full API coverage: 10 resources and 31 operations, from Lead and Audience to Campaign, Conversation and Message

  • Real-time triggers: start a workflow the moment a lead replies in your Inbox

  • One credential: paste your API key once, reuse it across every workflow

Note: If you'd rather stay in a pure no-code tool, we also have a dedicated Zapier integration and support for Make.

What you can do

The integration gives you two building blocks.

Action node

The La Growth Machine Action node ships with 10 resources and 31 operations:

  • Lead: create or update, search, update status, get logs, get conversations, enrich, get enrich result

  • Audience: list, create, import from LinkedIn (search, Sales Navigator, post likers and commenters, event attendees), get details, get leads

  • Campaign: list (filter by status), get, stats, per-lead stats, messages

  • Conversation: search, get messages, archive, unarchive, snooze, unsnooze, edit note

  • Message: send a LinkedIn message (text or voice), send an email

  • CRM: search your connected CRM

  • Website Visitor: push RB2B, Warmly or Vector visitors into an audience

  • Identity, Member, Credit: helper reads

Trigger node

The La Growth Machine Trigger starts a workflow whenever an Inbox message (LinkedIn or email) is sent or received.

How to set it up

Step 1: Get your API key

  1. Log in to La Growth Machine.

  2. Generate an API key and copy it.

Important: Keep this key private. It grants full access to your account's data. The same page shows a log of every API call (endpoint, status, result), which is your first stop when something doesn't behave.

Step 2: Install the node in n8n

For self-hosted n8n:

  1. Go to Settings → Community Nodes → Install.

  2. Enter @lagrowthmachine/n8n-nodes-lagrowthmachine.

  3. Confirm. The node shows up in the node panel a few seconds later.

For n8n Cloud: only nodes that n8n has verified can be installed, and they appear directly in the node search. While our node is going through verification, use it on a self-hosted n8n. Which community nodes are available on Cloud is decided by n8n, see the n8n community nodes docs.

Step 3: Create the credential

  1. In any workflow, add the La Growth Machine node.

  2. Under Credential to connect with, choose Create New.

  3. Paste your API key and save. n8n tests it against your account right away.

You reuse this one credential across every LGM node and workflow.

Step 4: Run your first workflow

  1. Add a Manual Trigger.

  2. Add La Growth Machine, set Resource to Audience and Operation to List.

  3. Click Execute workflow. Your audiences come back as items.

From there, swap in any resource and operation. For example, Lead → Create or Update to push a contact into an audience, or Lead → Enrich to find a pro email.

How to listen for new replies

To react to incoming messages in real time:

  1. Add the La Growth Machine Trigger node as the workflow's start.

  2. Optionally restrict it to specific campaigns with Campaign IDs.

  3. Activate the workflow. The node registers an Inbox webhook with LGM automatically, and removes it when you deactivate.

Each event carries the message, the conversation context, the full lead record, and the last 20 messages of the thread. To act only on messages coming from the lead, add a Filter node right after the trigger with the condition {{ $json.received }} is true.

Important: LGM has to reach your n8n webhook URL, so your n8n needs to be publicly reachable. That's the case out of the box on n8n Cloud. On self-hosted n8n, set a public WEBHOOK_URL. A localhost instance won't receive events.

Ready-made templates

You don't have to build from scratch. We ship a set of ready-to-use workflows, each with a one-click import, in our guide: Automate La Growth Machine with n8n.

Pick one, connect your credentials, and you're running.

Good to know

  • Rate limit: 50 calls per 10 seconds per key. For big jobs, use the Return All toggle and add retries with backoff.

  • Credits: enrichment consumes LGM credits (Email 5, LinkedIn 1, Full 5). Email enrichment works from a Lead ID, or from a first and last name plus a company. LinkedIn and Full enrichment need a Lead ID.

  • Sending messages reaches real leads. Test carefully, and add a human-approval step before you automate replies at scale.

  • Pagination: list operations have a Return All toggle that pages through every result for you.

Troubleshooting

  • The credential test fails: re-copy the key from Settings → API and check for a trailing space.

  • The Trigger never fires: your n8n has to be publicly reachable so LGM can POST to it. Confirm the webhook was created (it is, on activation) and that messages are actually arriving in your LGM Inbox.

  • Something looks wrong in a response: the LGM Settings → API page logs every call with its status and result.

  • You hit a bug in the node: open an issue on GitHub.

FAQs

Is the n8n node free?

Yes. The node itself is free and maintained by La Growth Machine. You only need a valid LGM plan with API access and an n8n instance (Cloud or self-hosted). Enrichment calls still consume LGM credits.

Can I use the node on n8n Cloud?

Not yet. Only n8n-verified community nodes can run on n8n Cloud. While verification is in progress, use the node on a self-hosted n8n. The n8n community nodes docs explain the Cloud policy.

Where do I find my API key?

In La Growth Machine, go to Settings → API (direct link). You can generate, copy and revoke keys there, and see a log of every API call.

Can I limit the Trigger to one campaign?

Yes. In the La Growth Machine Trigger node, use the Campaign IDs field to restrict the webhook to one or more campaigns.

How is this different from Zapier or Make?

Same API, different tool. If you're already on Zapier, see Zapier x La Growth Machine integration. For Make, see How to automatically send weekly campaign reports with Make?. The n8n node is the best fit if you want self-hosted workflows or want to combine LGM with any of n8n's 400+ other integrations.
