Overview

You’re using Outlook / Office 365 and want to automate your outreach with La Growth Machine — by email, on LinkedIn, and even on Twitter?

Great news: you can connect your Outlook account super easily, and you even have two methods to choose from.

Key benefits

  • Simplicity thanks to native Office 365 Connect with zero configuration required

  • Flexibility with SMTP connection if your organization has stricter settings

  • Multichannel outreach with automated and synced emails inside your LGM campaigns

  • Security using Microsoft’s official authentication or authenticated SMTP

How to connect Outlook via Office 365 Connect?

Connect using Office 365

  1. Go to the Identity section in La Growth Machine.

  2. Select Outlook when connecting your email.

  3. You’ll be redirected to the Outlook login page: choose your email and enter your password.

  4. Grant permissions to La Growth Machine.

And that’s it — you’re all set! No technical setup needed.

How to connect Outlook via SMTP?

Connecting an Outlook account via SMTP takes just a few minutes:

  1. Enable Authenticated SMTP in your Microsoft 365 Admin Center (3 minutes).

  2. Disable Azure resource access management (1 minute).

  3. Connect to La Growth Machine using the Automatic SMTP configuration feature (1 minute).

Important: You must have admin access for the first two steps.

Enabling “Authenticated SMTP” in your Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Enabling Authenticated SMTP allows La Growth Machine to use the SMTP protocol to send and sync your emails.

Important: If this option isn’t enabled, you’ll get a “Wrong Host/Port” error when trying to configure your email in LGM.

How to enable it

  1. Select the user you want to connect to LGM.

  2. Click Email, then Manage Email Apps.

  3. Enable Authenticated SMTP and save your changes.

Disabling Azure resource access management

You also need to disable Azure resource access management for the connection to work.

How to do it

  1. Set No for Azure resource management access.

Tip: This step is often forgotten — but it solves most SMTP connection errors.

Connecting to La Growth Machine with automatic SMTP configuration

Once your Microsoft settings are ready, return to LGM.

  1. Enter your email address and password.

  2. Click Automatic configuration.

  3. LGM will automatically detect your IMAP/SMTP settings.

  4. Review the detected settings… and you’re good to go!

Pro tip: If something doesn’t work right away, wait 1–2 minutes — Microsoft sometimes takes a moment to apply permission changes.

FAQs

Why choose Office 365 Connect instead of SMTP?

Office 365 Connect is faster, simpler, and doesn’t require admin settings. SMTP is mainly useful when your organization has strict security rules.

Do I need admin access for SMTP connection?

Yes — the first two steps (Authenticated SMTP + Azure access management) require admin privileges.

What should I do if I get a “Wrong Host/Port” error?

Enable Authenticated SMTP in your Microsoft 365 Admin Center — that’s almost always the reason.

Does LGM auto-detect SMTP/IMAP settings?

Yes! Just click Automatic configuration when adding your email.

Can I use Outlook for multichannel campaigns?

Absolutely — you can send automated emails and combine email + LinkedIn + Twitter in your sequences.
